The after care you should follow after your dermal filler treatment!

After investing in treatments like lip filler or jawline contouring, you may find yourself beaming with joy as you admire your enhanced features in the mirror. Your injector, hopefully me, has skillfully used dermal filler to accentuate your natural beauty, restore lost volume, and create a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing appearance. However, what you do in the days following your treatment is just as important as the procedure itself. To maximise your results and ensure a smooth recovery, it’s essential to follow these aftercare guidelines.

Whether you’re preparing for a special event or simply want to feel fabulous, allowing time for healing is crucial. Even with a skilled injector, some bruising and swelling are to be expected, so plan accordingly and schedule your appointment at least two weeks in advance.

In the 48 hours following your treatment, you’ll likely find yourself captivated by your reflection. During this time, it’s important to avoid rubbing or applying pressure to the treated areas. If you’ve had cheek or jawline filler, try to sleep on your back to prevent any displacement of the filler. For those flaunting luscious lip filler, feel free to gently apply a hydrating balm—just remember to be gentle.

As mentioned, some bruising is normal. To minimize this, it’s best to avoid caffeine and alcohol at least 24 hours before and after your appointment. It might require a little willpower to skip that morning coffee, but your results will be worth it.

The treated areas need time to heal, so it’s wise to steer clear of excessive heat, which can exacerbate swelling and bruising. Avoid saunas, hot showers, and intense workouts to give your dermal filler the best chance to settle.

Lastly, staying hydrated is key to achieving optimal results. Hydration plays a vital role in maintaining healthy skin and becomes even more crucial after receiving dermal filler, as the injected substance attracts water molecules, enhancing the volumizing effect.

So to ensure you get the most out of your treatment, consider scheduling your intense workouts for the day before and making sure to hydrate properly. Your slightly bruised lips will thank you!
